Fakenham Academy are one of many schools in the local area who are taking part in a hare themed art competition, which will be judged by our celebrity guest, Nick Baker, at this years Wild About The Wensum event on Saturday 12th May. The aim of the competition is to help spread the word about the plight of the hare and how Norfolk is one of its last strongholds.
The high school have embraced the project with open arms and introduced it into their scheme of work for the Spring term. Years 7, 8 and 9 (ages 11-14) have all taken part, exploring hares across all mediums and their completed work went on display on Tuesday 20th March for their peers to judge. The spectacular display of 109 pieces of work included sculptures, sketches, paintings and prints!
The 10 best pieces of work (as judged by their peers and art teachers) have been submitted to Pensthorpe and will be on display on Saturday 12th May for Nick to judge. The winner will receive an exclusive day workshop with a local illustrator, Andy Ward, and photographer, Julia Rafferty. The prize will also include a goody bag from GoGoCreate (linking to the GoGoHares trail which will be launched just before summer).
We wish all their students the best of luck in this competition and a big thank you for taking part!
