Volunteers

Why volunteer?

Volunteers are key to the success of Pensthorpe Natural Park where we are supported by a group of highly committed and enthusiastic people giving their time for free. We are always looking for new volunteers to assist with maintenance of our reserve and gardens and to help our visitors during their time with us.

If you’d like to volunteer for us, you must be 18 or over and able to commit to at least one regular day a week for a minimum of six months. You will need to be resourceful, strong and able to work outside in all weathers, sometimes undertaking challenging physical tasks. You must be team focused and have a demonstrable interest in wildlife, nature or conservation, perhaps because you are studying or have undertaken studies in this field.

Volunteering at Pensthorpe Natural Park is hugely rewarding and will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to work outside with nature. Whilst our volunteers do not receive any pay for the work they do, they are provided with lunch and refreshments whilst they are on site with us and free entry to the park for the duration of their voluntary post.

To apply please email your CV and a covering explanation of why you would like to volunteer to info@pensthorpe.com

When do volunteer days run?

Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

What will you do?

Tasks depend on the time of year but a typical day would consist of habitat management, lopping, sawing and burning of overgrown scrub. You may be working with visitors to guide them around the Park and answer questions for them.

What will you need?

Current tetanus vaccination, old clothes, sturdy boots / wellies, hard wearing gloves and waterproofs. All those taking part will be asked to complete a volunteer induction.
