For the third year, Pensthorpe played host to the popular BBC Springwatch series.
For three weeks, starting on the 31st May, the BBC's leading wildlife programme was broadcast live from the Norfolk Nature Reserve. Previous years have given viewers the delights and high dramas of avian family life, and the 2010 the series was compulsive viewing with more Springwatch 'firsts' added to the list.
This year the Springwatch team made the move to 'High Defintition' to give viewers an even clearer picture. New specialist cameras and nest boxes offered great opportunities for even more dramatic wildlife theatre, and barn owls, kingfishers and otters are just some of the creatures that the team were able attract and film on the webcams.
Kate Humble, Chris Packham and the team presented the live TV feeds each day, and brought you the highlights from the local wildlife world, both at Pensthorpe and throughout the county. Features over the new series included a focus on the consequences for our local wildlife following this year's extraordinary winter conditions and a particular focus was made of the River Wensum and its national importance.
